Client: Peel Investments (North) Ltd Trafford Waters is a 21-acre high-density mixed-use development located in Trafford City, adjacent to the Manchester Ship Canal and close to the Trafford Centre. The project will deliver 3,000 residential units, 80,000 square metres of office space, and supporting amenities, including retail, two hotels, a primary school, and green public spaces. Designed to promote sustainability, the development incorporates extensive green infrastructure and water management systems, fostering a vibrant, connected community. With a strong focus on creating a sustainable urban environment, Trafford Waters will integrate residential, commercial, and public spaces, offering a high-quality living and working environment. Services we provided Water Engineering & Flood Risk Environmental & Sustainability Consulting Ground Investigation & Land Quality Our Role BWB was appointed by Peel Investments to carry out infrastructure master planning and provide a broad range of engineering services critical to the development’s successful delivery. Our involvement began with preparing a comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) that outlined the project's potential environmental, social, and economic impacts. Our comprehensive planning submission, which included an Environmental Statement, provided a solid foundation for the project’s phased implementation, facilitating smooth approval and alignment with Trafford City’s broader regeneration goals. Complex site The key challenge for the Trafford Waters project was managing the complex interactions among the site's components, including residential, commercial, and public spaces. Our team worked closely with the client’s planning lead, architects, and numerous technical stakeholders to develop a fully integrated master plan. This process required balancing the site's environmental and geotechnical constraints with the need to create a cohesive, connected community. Additionally, we navigated planning and regulatory requirements to secure approvals for the comprehensive development strategy.
