A New Landmark on the Skyline: Crane Arrives at Therme Manchester 12.10.2026 At BWB Consulting, we believe the best engineering doesn’t just support buildings, it supports people and communities. We’re proud to see another major milestone reached at Therme Manchester, with a crane now on site as construction continues to gather momentum at the UK’s first city-based wellbeing resort. Its arrival is a striking visual sign of the progress being made at Trafford City. As activity continues across the 28-acre site, the vision for Therme Manchester is steadily moving from plans and designs towards a destination that will transform health, wellbeing and leisure in the North West. Working alongside Therme Group, Peel Waters and Sir Robert McAlpine, our teams have been deeply involved in the technical journey, helping the project reach this stage. A Place for Everyone Therme Manchester isn’t just a leisure destination; it is a visionary project designed to be an “urban anchor” for the North West. Guided by the principle of “wellbeing for all,” the resort will combine nature, water, and sustainable technology to create a year-round oasis. From the immersive botanical gardens and thermal bathing areas to the next-generation waterpark, every element is designed to promote social connection and mental and physical health. It is a project that treats wellbeing not as a luxury, but as an essential part of everyday living. Engineering for a Sustainable Future As an integrated consultancy, BWB has focused on ensuring the infrastructure behind this “tropical paradise” is as innovative as the guest experience itself. Our involvement has spanned [insert specific BWB services here, e.g., structural, civil, or environmental engineering], ensuring that sustainability is woven into the very fabric of the design. By utilising advanced energy-efficient systems and prioritising active travel links to the Bridgewater Canal and Metrolink, Therme Manchester is set to become a beacon of innovation. It is estimated that the resort will help save over one million hospital admission days per year, a testament to the profound impact that thoughtful, health-focused design can have on preventative healthcare. Looking Ahead With the crane now a prominent feature on site and construction continuing to progress, Therme Manchester is becoming increasingly tangible. The project will eventually create 2,500 construction jobs and 650 permanent roles, delivering benefits that extend well beyond the resort itself. We are honoured to be part of the expert team bringing this game-changing destination to Manchester. Seeing the crane on site is another important reminder of how far the project has come, and an exciting indication of what is still to come as we continue building the foundations of a healthier, happier future for the North West.
