Thrive Park is an 80-hectare industrial development strategically located in the heart of the UK. It focuses on attracting and supporting manufacturing, logistics, and distribution businesses. Thrive offers a range of high-quality industrial units and warehousing solutions.

The project boasts a prime location with excellent connectivity to major transport networks, including the M6, M5, and M42 motorways. This connectivity makes it an ideal base for businesses looking to streamline their operations and improve supply chain efficiency.

BWB's Role
BWB provided a fully integrated suite of services for the Thrive development. Our work ensured that the project’s infrastructure met both regulatory standards and the client’s ambitious sustainability goals.
Our expertise was instrumental in shaping the earthworks strategy. We designed the drainage and water management systems and delivered a comprehensive flood risk assessment.
Overcoming earthworks challenges
A significant challenge was the complex nature of the earthworks, which required multiple revisions due to local constraints. This included the presence of a Grade I-listed church. Our team meticulously reworked the strategy to accommodate these sensitivities while maintaining efficiency in the overall design.
Enhancing connectivity through active travel
Our transport planning and highways design teams played a critical role in shaping the site's accessibility, with a strong emphasis on active travel. Thrive integrates pedestrian and cycling routes as key infrastructure elements. We worked closely with the local council, submitting detailed travel documents to ensure compliance and to maximise connectivity for future workers and visitors.
Active travel routes require more intricate planning and coordination, particularly in a business park setting where traditional road networks typically dominate. Our team embraced this challenge, ensuring that walking and cycling paths were fully integrated into the masterplan, aligning with Thrive’s sustainability objectives.
Delivering carbon capture studies
We also delivered a carbon capture study, helping Thrive meet its aspirational target of achieving BREEAM Outstanding. Alongside this carbon capture study, we also helped the development reach its sustainability targets, which include:
- A prioritisation of active travel over car use, with extensive cycling and walking infrastructure
- A planned 15% Biodiversity Net Gain across the entire site
- Large-scale tree and shrubbery planting to enhance local wildlife habitats
- Net Zero carbon standards for building design and operation

This proactive approach ensures that the development is sustainable not only in its environmental impact but also in its social integration, fostering a sense of ownership and reflecting the aspirations of the community it serves.
