Client: Shepherd Engineering Services

Telford Co-Operative Academy is a modern secondary school that also houses changing facilities for a nearby tennis centre and a district-wide data centre. Designed to serve both educational and community functions, the building integrates shared spaces and specialised facilities to accommodate a wide range of activities.

The data centre serves as a hub for the district's IT services, providing essential connectivity and data storage. The academy's design supports a multi-functional approach, blending educational spaces with community-focused amenities.

Our Role

BWB’s involvement encompassed the entire mechanical and electrical (M&E) building services design from concept through to detailed design using Revit software within a BIM Level 2 environment. Our team developed an integrated design that efficiently managed the diverse functions of the building, ensuring energy and cost efficiency across the academy’s various facilities.

Coordinated digital delivery

Our expertise in BIM coordination ensured that the design was fully aligned with the architectural and structural components of the building, preventing clashes and ensuring smooth project delivery. The BIM environment allowed for precise visualisation and management of M&E services, providing the client and stakeholders with confidence in the final design.

Precise engineering

The BIM environment allowed for precise visualisation and management of M&E services, providing the client and stakeholders with confidence in the final design. Managing the complex M&E requirements of the academy, which included areas for education, sports, and IT services, required careful planning and coordination.

Sustainable designs

One of the key aspects of our role was implementing an energy-efficient strategy for the building’s engineering systems, which involved optimising mechanical ventilation, lighting, and heating systems to achieve substantial energy savings. We incorporated modular solutions for plant equipment, enabling easier installation and future maintenance.
