A new interactive public consultation is being held to gather ideas for the future of Hope Cement Works.
Breedon, who operates Hope Cement Works, is bringing the consultation. The Hope Cement Works’ permission expires in 2042, and quarrying operations are expected to end. This means there is a need for the space to change its purpose and continue to contribute towards the area.
The site includes the active Shale Quarry, Limestone Quarry, and Hope Cement works.
To gather local community feedback, Breedon are working with Deetu, a BWB Group Company, to create an interactive consultation website to help guide visitors through possible ideas with site layouts, interactive map markers, and illustrative images.
Deetu is a digital agency focused on forming a lasting engagement with local communities and stakeholders. Deetu aims to help people make smarter decisions faster. Better understanding of their assets and the built environment around them.
UMC Architects, who have experience designing the futures of quarries, have thought up these initial ideas and will create a possible vision for the future which considers the feedback to the consultation.
The proposals brought forward by Breedon are ideas. This is not a planning application. This site can provide many things to the local area in the future, for example, employment opportunities, creating high-quality green spaces or a discovery hub to learn about local history. There are still 19 years until the operations are expected to end, so there is lots of time to plan for the future.
We’re excited to see the local community’s vision for the area and look forward to working closely with Breedon to help understand the concept bought along by the consultation.
