From the first publication of specific planning policy on flood risk in 2001 BWB has been at the forefront in providing pragmatic, commercial and effective advice to the UK’s leading developers on flood risk from both river and coastal sources.
Through our professionalism and expertise, our water team has developed a good working relationship with the Environment Agency. We do pride ourselves, however, on our independence and, unlike most other flood risk consultants of similar technical standing that are suppliers to the Environment Agency; we are prepared to challenge the Environment Agency’s technical data and requirements on behalf of our Clients.
Our specialist team comprises an effective mix of engineers, environmental scientists and hydrologists that are able to deal comprehensively with the diverse demands of flood risk management, from complex modelling of rivers and floodplain to dealing with the softer stakeholder issues of landscape and ecological management. Our work is delivered with a deep understanding of how the aquatic environment, sustainability and climate change issues may impact on development. Our solutions are underpinned by the sharp commercial focus and can-do attitude that defines all of BWB’s professional services. We now deliver over 300 flood risk assessments each year across all development sectors, covering all levels of development from single-plot housing to major mixed use urban extensions. Whether it is river or coastal modelling, flood rise, river scour or restoration constraints that affect your development, BWB has the expertise you require.
