As part of a wider strategic development known as Infinity Park, Derby, a proposed Link Road and construction of a Flood Alleviation Area had the potential to impact local watercourses. BWB provided a detailed watercourse diversion design, including a crossing for the new link road. This also comprised of a flood alleviation scheme to support the overall development. The consents for these works required a Water Framework Directive Compliance Assessment, to demonstrate no deterioration in the quality of the watercourses.
The development was located in the floodplain of the Cuttle Brook and Main Drain through the site, BWB's experience and commercial acumen ensured a economically viable solution to manage the flood risk. Ecological surveys found key fish species and habitat potential for a range of species. BWB specified necessary measures during construction of the watercourse diversion to minimise any impact on these species and provide suitable habitat in the newly designed channel.
