BWB Consulting were appointed to provide structural, civil and geotechnical design services on this mixed used city centre development, comprising of 54 residential apartments, 5,000 sqm office space, retail units, and external seating areas all over a basement car park.
The development includes two buildings up to five storeys high, with a central tree-lined public square linked to New Walk, and an open thoroughfare connecting the development to Welford Road.
This scheme is seen to be beneficial to the surrounding business brining economic benefits not only to the area but the city as a whole.
The key challenge has been to provide structural forms that are appropriate for each of the different types of space and able to complement the striking architectural form of this prestigious development. Drawing upon their extensive experience in the development of city centre commercial property BWB have designed a hybrid steel and concrete structure, delivered using the latest BIM technology.
