This 100,000 sq.ft. new-build faculty brought together two University Schools, eight departments, 250 staff and 5,000 students into one landmark building at one of the most prominent positions in Leicester City.
The Faculty of Business and Law includes large lecture theatres, classrooms, meeting rooms, academic offices, a 'mock' court room, library and IT facilities. An impressive atrium and winter gardens allow air and natural light into the building.
The £22 million scheme incorporated sustainable principles in the architecture, structure, heating, lighting and ventilation. The BWB designed main building structure is exposed to exploit its thermal mass in the heating and cooling process.
