BWB's multidisciplinary expertise played a key role in the delivery of this £22 million flagship scheme for the University, which embraced sustainable principles in architecture, structure, heating, lighting and ventilation.
The 100,000 sq.ft faculty brought together two University Schools, eight departments, 250 staff and 5,000 students into one landmark building at one of the most prominent positions in Leicester city centre. The building's structural frame and floor soffits are exposed to exploit their thermal mass in the building's heating and cooling system.
The Faculty of Business and Law includes large lecture theatres, classrooms, meeting rooms, academic offices, a mock courtroom, library and IT facilities. An impressive atrium and winter gardens also allow air and natural light into the core of the building.
