Nottingham One is a mixed use commercial and residential scheme comprising 290,000 sq. ft. of development. The scheme includes 2 levels of basement parking. The site occupies a key position in the City with a southerly aspect over Nottingham Canal. The building consists of a 5 storey terrace over the basement parking with street frontage, three 5 storey pavilion towers overlooking the canal, and a landmark 13 storey tower.
The 2 storey basement car park is formed in sheet steel piling with sealed joints to provide a temporary solution for excavation and a permanent solution for the forming of a watertight basement in the water bearing gravels.
The structural frame consists of an insitu concrete podium over the carpark to support the terrace and pavilions, three insitu concrete pavilions structures, and a 13 storey insitu concrete tower. The 5 storeys of residential units are built off the podium using precast concrete. The support for the 13 storey tower is cantilevered a district heating main. This required state of the art finite element analysis to design the cantilever structure to support the tower.
