BWB has been involved in the planning stages of this exciting project to convert an iconic office building in Bradford into almost a hundred residential apartments. Arndale House is an 8-storey office building which stands in a fantastic city centre location opposite the Bradford Broadway shopping centre.
The proposed redevelopment will see the ground and first floors remain for business use while the flats will occupy the remainder of the building above from floors two through to eight. The plans will see 70 one bedroom and 28 two bedroom apartments being created by using Permitted Development rights to assist the change of use from office to residential.
BWB was commissioned by Auger Bulcher to provide infrastructure and environmental consultancy services to support their planning application to Bradford Metropolitan District Council. The plans were submitted in April 2015 with permission being granted several months later.
Our transport team co-ordinated a Transport Statement and Framework Travel Plan which assessed the impact of the development on the local transport network and identified ways to encourage sustainable transport choices for residents and visitors.
An Environmental Desk Study and Flood Risk Assessment that were undertaken by BWB were also included in the planning submission. The council later requested extra information on evacuation routes for residents should the area flood which BWB supplied in a report of recommendations. The council were then satisfied and subsequently granted approval under the stipulation that our recommendations are carried out.
