Transport Planning
The Enterprise Zone at Blackpool Airport became active in April 2016, and runs until 2041, giving businesses incentives to invest and grow in the area, and targeting a wide range of sectors. The existing area currently comprises of: Blackpool Airport, the former Wellington Bomber Factory, Blackpool Retail Park, playing fields and multiple businesses, offices and warehouses.
The proposed development is the Blackpool Airport Enterprise Zone, which comprises of 260,000 sqm of floor space available for development, conversion or repurposing. Highways interventions are necessary to improve the accessibility into and movement within the Site to improve the attractiveness for potential investors and to relieve the pressure on the surrounding highway network.
For the purposes of the Outline planning application, we based our Transport Assessment on the highest possible floor area to provide our Client with the flexibility to adapt their proposals in light of the ever-evolving scheme proposals. We also carried out options testing scenarios to ascertain the implications of various land use mixes on the mitigation requirements at off-site junctions to inform their cost plans.
