Markham Vale

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

BWB's multi-disciplinary expertise has been utilised throughout the development of this 200-acre business and distribution park on the former Markham Vale colliery site in Derbyshire. This major regeneration project is one of the UK's largest Enterprise Zone developments and is being undertaken as a joint venture between Derbyshire County Council and Henry Boot Developments. When fully complete the site will offer industrial buildings ranging from 3,000 to 750,000 sq ft.

BWB was commissioned by Henry Boot at the early stages, producing the specifications for all the remediation, utilities and infrastructure management along with the earthworks for the entire site. Following this, BWB delivered a range of pre-planning services along with civil and structural design for each of the individual plots. Earthworks validation for individual plots was also provided by BWB. This has so far led to premises for Ready Egg, inspirepac, Holdsworth Foods, Meter Provida, Andrew Page, Squadron Medical and Gould Alloys to be successfully completed while further plots are currently being developed.

Our range of planning inputs on each individual plot has included noise and air quality, flood risk assessment, transport planning, site investigation and earthworks validation. This has been followed by detailed design of the drainage, internal floor slabs and associated machinery pits, earthworks, external works and structural frame.
