The masterplan for the former Newmarket Colliery site in Wakefield proposes a major mixed-use development of distribution and commercial office space, residential dwellings and a new 12,000 seat stadium for Wakefield Trinity Wildcats rugby league club. BWB Consulting was appointed to undertake S278, S104 and private highway infrastructure design to open up the first phases of development at the site.
The S278 works consisted of a new signalised junction and highway widening to facilitate development flows with associated drainage infrastructure. The private highways and drainage then ran into the development site to unlock the first plots as well as providing SuDs via attenuation ponds which will ultimately be adopted by Wakefield Council.
This infrastructure project is the first input into a much wider scale development. Off the back of BWB's detailed design work we were also appointed to undertake CDMC and Contract Administration roles through the construction phase of the scheme.
