Initially BWB were commissioned to undertake a Geotechnical Assessment of this site in order to advise on the land sale. 114 residential properties were proposed to be built on the Greenfield site.
BWB assessed abandoned mine working grouting and piled foundation solutions, which had been identified by the land buyer. We also reviewed available Geotechnical and Geo-environmental information and provided alternative options that mitigated the need for a piled solution.
Our specialist team were able to increase land value by persuading our client and the land buyer that shallow foundations were a suitable solution, thus eliminating the need for piles, which had been recommended by a third party and were a significantly more expensive solution. BWB's advice subsequently helped our client increase the land value by £250,000.
