PROJECT DESCRIPTION

At BWB we strive to be at the forefront of sustainable construction and low carbon techniques and innovation. Looking back to this 2004 project today, it is interesting to see that many 'experimental' sustainability and low carbon features are now commonplace.

The Millenium ECO House was designed as a research centre for David Wilson Homes and the University of Nottingham to study renewable energy, low carbon and sustainable construction techniques and materials. The experimental house included green features that were innovative at the time such as a wind catcher, solar collectors, solar chimney, photo-voltaic panels, sun pipes, rainwater harvesting and innovative lighting technology.

BWB developed a structural solution that would enable adaptability and complete change of the cladding materials and internal layout to permit the addition of new technologies and experimental solutions.
