This "best-in-class" business park for national and international manufacturing and logistics businesses lies adjacent to a major residential allocation comprising 5,500 new dwellings on land west of the A38. Strategically located close to key transport routes, Peddimore will become a primary economic asset for the Midlands, providing excellent employment opportunities and much-needed stimulus to the regional economy.
IM Properties is Birmingham City Council's development partner for Peddimore and its primary infrastructure, including the major gateway roundabout on the A38 that will also link the allocated residential land to the local and national road network.
For a project of such political and economic significance, it was essential the primary access was designed, approved, constructed and commissioned in time to get the first major building open for business by the end of 2023. Planning consent was obtained in September 2019 and the new roundabout, with its landmark bow string bridge across the A38, was completed in summer 2022.
This was a remarkable achievement, given the unprecedented challenges arising from COVID-19, the scale and complexity of the project, and the phasing and sequencing of construction involved in building a major junction on a heavily trafficked arterial road that had to remain open throughout.
