BWB was excited to take on the challenge of upgrading this 800 B&B backpackers and party hostel in central London housed within a Grade 2 Listed Building.
The hostel underwent significant refurbishment and is now a flagship for the Generator brand, having been shortlisted for an interior design award. The Client's focal point was to create a dynamic public bar and cafe area which BWB took into account with the careful detailing of exposed services and integration with the specialist interior architect's concept.
Sustainable technologies such as air source heat pumps, LED lighting and low energy fans were used to minimise energy consumption and create a more comfortable environment for guests.
The complete refurbishment was undertaken over multiple phases in a live environment.
The upgrade of the hostel was quite challenging as the client's brief was to increase the room number from 80 to 90+ and the building itself is a listed former police station in a fairly congested site in central London.
