PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The new £4.5m maternity unit at Kettering General Hospital was constructed as part of the P21+ framework. The development was designed to provide better support to the 3,800 births and 2,000 gynaecological and obstetric theatre procedures delivered by the hospital each year.

The scheme incorporated the provision of two new obstetrics/gynaecology compliant theatres and supporting accommodation constructed in a compact state-of-the-art extension to the front of Rockingham Wing. This project also involves remodeling of the existing theatres accommodation to provide modern recovery and support spaces.

BWB was contracted to develop the structural scheme design together with the structural Revit model through detailed design to the construction stage. Phase one was completed in 2015, with the first baby delivered in the new facility in September of that year, while the second and final phase was completed in early 2016.
