Forty young professionals from the likes of Amey, Atkins, WSP and Mott Macdonald visited BWB’s Birmingham office last week for a communication workshop run by our HR team. BWB’s Liz Hardwick Smith and Natalie Walker led the interactive seminar which was designed to develop effective communication skills among individuals in the early stages of their careers.

Subjects covered included how to have more impact, be more assertive and manage conflict in work situations along with understanding emotions in ourselves as well as those of colleagues. The event was well attended with delegates from Ramboll, Arcadis, Peter Brett Associates, Babcock International and students from local universities also taking part.

The workshop was organised by BWB engineer Anastasios Stamatis while in his role as regional chair for the Progress Network, the Association for Consultancy and Engineering’s branch for emerging professionals. It was the final event he co-ordinated in that role before stepping down as chair after a year of leading the team.

Anastasios said: “I’m delighted we had the opportunity to introduce BWB to young professionals in the city.  Attendees were impressed by the quality of the workshop and its practical application in their personal and working lives – a success! What a great night to mark the end of a creative year for our Progress Network. We’d like to express our gratitude to BWB for sponsoring the event and all our BWB colleagues who helped us through.”
