PROJECT UPDATE: TOPPING OUT CEREMONY AT VITA STUDENT ACCOMMODATION IN BIRMINGHAM

19 October 2018

Student accommodation developer Vita Student marked a major milestone at its Pebble Mill development in Birmingham yesterday with a traditional topping out ceremony.

The event celebrated the construction of the £23m building reaching its highest point and was attended by representatives from BWB who have provided civil and structural design services. BWB engineers Georgios Rozis and Rebekah Duncan joined members of the project team from Vita, Morgan Sindall, Paragon, GNA Architects and Fira in raising their glasses on the roof of the six-story structure.

Georgios said: “It was great to be invited to the ceremony and have the opportunity to get everyone together and see that the hard work of the team is paying off.”

The development is located on the site of the former BBC Pebble Mill studios along the Pershore Road and will provide 357 self-contained bedrooms. Additional facilities will include a ground floor hub space which offers a movie room, gymnasium and a self-service breakfast bar in addition to a 24-hour operated reception desk.

The building is due to open for the start of the 2019/2020 academic year.
