BWB become a Disability Confident Employer

10 August 2017

BWB, part of the CAF Group, is delighted to have become a Disability Confident Employer.

The Disability Confident accreditation means that, as an employer, BWB is recognised as taking
positive action to ensure that people with disabilities and long term health conditions feel supported,
engaged and able to fulfil their potential in the workplace.

The accreditation recognises some of the proactive steps the company are taking to support people
with disabilities in applying for and working at BWB.

Elizabeth Hardwick-Smith, Head of HR said “As BWB embarks on the next phase of our journey,
attracting and retaining new talent is ever more important for our onward business plan and growth goals.
Through the review and development of our People Plan, we’ve identified new and exciting
strategies for recruitment, development, engagement and diversity.  Gaining this recognition shows
how we continue to build on our fantastic people practices as a Sunday Times Top 100 company to work for.”

BWB have had a number of practices recognised under the scheme.  This includes offering interviews to all
candidates who meet the minimum criteria for roles, taking a flexible approach to the application and
interview process and supporting flexible working practices.  Our award winning learning opportunities are
also open to all employees.  The company takes active steps to make adjustments in the workplace to support
staff with disabilities, no matter what stage they are at in their employment.

BWB Consulting’s Group Resourcing Partner, Nicola Macdonnell said: "There are currently 1.3 million disabled
people in the UK who are available for and want to work and we want to access the widest possible skills and talent. I’m delighted to work with an open-minded and inclusive leadership team that embraces the opportunities a diverse workforce offers.  I’m very excited for our future.”

This year, BWB were shortlisted for the Inclusion and Diversity Champion of the Year Award at the Consultancy and Engineering Awards.  This is something that the company is passionate about building on and demonstrates BWB’s ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive and diverse place to work.
