Jack receives his award from Geoff Poyzer

20 January 2017

A BWB employee who studies for a degree part-time has scooped a prize at Nottingham Trent University’s annual Civil Engineering awards for the second year running. Jack Mathieson, an Assistant Engineer in our Infrastructure Management team, was named Best Second Year Student (BSc) at the prestigious event last month.

The accolade recognises the exceptional grades he achieved in the second year of the Civil Engineering degree he is completing while on day release from BWB. On the night Jack was presented with his award by Geoff Poyzer, Managing Director of the Highways division of North Midland Construction who had sponsored the category.

Jack is no stranger to winning awards, having walked away from the previous year’s ceremony with the Geotechnical Group Prize for outstanding performance in Ground Engineering. He said: “It was a great surprise to be given consecutive awards - it just goes to show what a nurturing environment BWB provides.  I am delighted that my efforts are being recognised. I’m very grateful to BWB for giving me the chance to study and develop my career and hopefully I can keep up this winning streak.”

Jack is currently studying in his third year and due to graduate in summer 2018.
