Scobie Alvis

05 January 2012

Engineering and environmental consultancy, BWB, has appointed Scobie Alvis as Group Director to lead their recently formed Buildings and Built Environment Group (B&BE). Scobie has overall responsibility for the growth strategy and performance of the B&BE teams within BWB’s network of five UK offices.

Scobie joins BWB from Hyder Consulting and brings with him more than 25 years experience in building and bridge design, including façade and special structures engineering. With a keen passion for design, he has particular interest in the holistic performance of energy efficient buildings whereby the structure forms an integral part of the building’s overall environmental performance.

Steve Wooler, BWB’s Managing Director, commented:

“We identified diversification into sustainable and iconic building projects as a key objective of our corporate growth strategy. Scobie’s impressive reputation and experience adds a new dimension to BWB that underpins both our geographic expansion ambitions and also our entry into new market sectors. Despite the generally subdued mood and sentiment in the marketplace we remain optimistic about the future. This is a strategic appointment that sends a strong signal about our ambition and intent.”
