
Temple Plaza is a proposed 10,000m² office development on the sites of the Grosvenor and George and Railway Hotels on Temple Gate. Bristol City Council has aspirations for a tram, or similar public transport corridor, to route along an existing highway which bisects the site and consequently the scheme will comprise two separate buildings. BWB were involved in extensive negotiations with BCC to establish the minimum corridor width required to provide for the safe movement of trams, pedestrians and cyclists between the buildings.
It was also necessary to identify the optimum servicing and access strategy for the site. This work, together with an examination of the accessibility of the site to sustainable travel, proposed parking provision and the highway implications of off-site traffic were included in a Transport Statement which in turn formed part of an Environmental Statement to support a detailed planning application.
In addition to the transport work BWB produced a desk study report and Flood Risk Assessment and are also providing structural input to the Architect´s schematic design.
