River Modelling
In some cases the readily information available from public bodies such as the EA is not sufficient to enable an Flood Risk Assessment to be undertaken. In these cases it is necessary to undertake a detailed topographical survey of the river or watercourse in order to construct a mathematical model of the river that can be used to predict flood levels and hence determine flood risk.
BWB have a specialist team of hydrologists and engineers with extensive experience in preparing models that provide data required to undertake FRAs within an appropriate budget. Leicester Road, Anstey is a recent project for which we had to build a model to undertake the FRA.
In areas behind significant defences, such as coastal zones, BWB is also able to undertake breach modelling to identify the likely effects of defence failure.
