BWB Consulting were employed as the Civil and Structural Engineers in the re-development of a former industrial site in Sheffield.
We were employed as Civil and Structural Engineering designers on a 760 bedroom student accommodation development. The proposed development is located on a site constrained by the River Don to the Northern boundary.
The route of the proposed Sheffield Inner Relief Road bounds the site to the West, and a culverted watercourse, known as a goit, runs along the Southern boundary of the site.
The proposed scheme is founded on CFA piles and reinforced pile caps and ground beams, with extensive retaining structures to create a basement car park under the entire footprint.
The superstructure consists of a steel podium over the basement car park, which in turn supports 5 stepping to 7 storeys of modular construction.
