The Heights Complex has been built on a key site adjacent to Aston University providing students with state of the art ergonomic living accommodation and recreational facilities.

The project consists of two sequential build phases with three distinct elements, comprising the extensive refurbishment of an existing seven storey telephone exchange, which remained fully operational during the construction period, and two new build blocks of six and seven storeys. The facility provides accommodation for 900 students.

BWB provided integrated engineering services, initially to the client throughout the due-diligence and pre-novation phases, and then to the contractor to ensure the challenging construction period was achieved.

Innovative design solutions were adopted for the new build elements to overcome severe site constraints and enable an economic solution to be achieved. Prefabricated bedroom and kitchen modules were delivered to site complete with internal finishes and furniture, ready for occupation on installation of MandE services and the external envelope.
