BWB were appointed by student accommodation developer Unite to provide specialist geo-environmental and engineering advice to assist in the acquisition of the former Castle Cement works that forms a key part of the planned comprehensive redevelopment of the East side of Birmingham.
With the site successfully secured BWB are now providing civil and structural engineering consultancy services on this flagship student accommodation project, working closely with the masterplanning Architect HOK to develop the scheme design.
The project involves the construction of accommodation and recreational facilities for 750 students in three buildings ranging in height from five storeys to eleven storeys.
Bespoke structural engineering solutions are being developed to optimise the construction of the blocks each with their own distinct engineering challenges, and to enable a very tight construction programme to be achieved.
